Our Coaches

Coach Josh Baker

Coach Josh began rowing in 2005 as a high school athlete in Orlando, Florida, winning multiple state and Southeast Regional championships and earning a medal at the Stotesbury Cup. After rowing at Florida State University, he transitioned into coaching and has since led junior, collegiate, and masters programs in Florida, Tennessee, and Oregon.

Coach Josh moved to Eugene in the Fall of 2023 to serve as Head Coach and Executive Director of Eugene Rowing Club. He leads the Competitive and High Performance teams while overseeing the club’s coaching staff, athlete development, and daily operations.

During his first three seasons in Eugene, Coach Josh’s crews have earned multiple A-final appearances at the USRowing Youth National Championships, highlighted by ERC’s 2026 national championship in the Men’s U17 4+. Across his coaching career, he has guided more than a dozen crews to USRowing regional championship medals and helped dozens of athletes continue rowing at the collegiate level.

Coach Josh holds a USRowing Level 3 Coaching Certification, the organization’s highest level of certification. His approach emphasizes thoughtful preparation, strong team dynamics, and a positive, accountable culture that helps athletes grow both on and off the water.
