Success at NW Regionals

SERC had some strong racing at NW Regionals this year. Despite the subdued atmosphere due to COVID restrictions, the conditions were sunny, the water was excellent, and SERC finished strong in all of our events with some crews being crowned Oregon State Champions.

Here’s a summary of results:

W U19 2x - Sahara, Janie, Reese, and Hailey had solid finishes in the time trial with Sahara and Janie placing 2nd in the B Final and Reese and Hailey finishing 4th.

M U19 2x - Placing first in the time trial, Eliott and Timmy managed to hold off the other crews in the A Final and win becoming both Northwest Champions and Oregon State Champions.

M U19 1x - Against 35 competitors, Jack P. raced hard to place 2nd in the C Final.

W U17 2x - Amalie and Roisin surged at the end of the B Final but the course ran out before they were able to move past the boat ahead of them, and they placed 3rd.

M U17 1x - Leo qualified for the A Final. He managed to hold off Lake Oswego to place 5th and become the Oregon State Champion. Hugh raced strong placing 5th in the C Final.

M U17 2x - Seth and Auden raced hard in the A final placing 3rd. Brennan and Jack A. refused to let their competitors inch past them finishing 1st in the B final in a close photo finish.

M U15 1x - Placing first in his time trial, Kai raced hard in the A Final finishing 3rd and holding off Lake Oswego to be the Oregon State Champion.

M U19 4+ - In their first major competition, Rob, Brennen, Nick and James raced hard with Vera as cox placing 6th in the A Final.

W U19 4x - Page, Mara, Colette, and Bella in their first major competition with Kendra as cox, faced down top crews to place 3rd in the B Final.

M U19 4x - In our last race of the day, Theo, Owen, Rory, and Oliver placed 4th in the A Final and Ari, Naman, Xane, Jude, and Izzie, placed 3rd in the B Final.

Thank you too all the parents and volunteers that made the spring racing season possible!

So what's next?? If you haven't yet signed up for summer camp, I encourage you to do so. The kids have a great time and it's the perfect place to work on improving technique to be even faster next season. We're also looking at potential regattas next year and while it's too early for a schedule, it looks like the majority are in October (head races) and May (sprint races).
